US Airways Group posted a record third-quarter net profit of $245 million, up from $76 million a year earlier.
Excluding special items totaling $192 million, the result was the second-best third quarter in the company's history.
The airline cited improving revenue performance generated by "strong passenger demand and record consolidated third-quarter yields."
Total passenger revenue rose by 3.3% to $3.2 billion.
"We are setting company records in all the operational metrics that matter to our customers, including completion factor, on-time arrivals and baggage handling," according to chairman and CEO Doug Parker. "Looking forward, the revenue environment remains strong."
