The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has lifted the
laptop ban on Saudi Arabia.
With the repeal, the U.S. ban on carry-on laptops and tablets, which had been implemented on flights from 10 North African and Middle Eastern airports in
March, has come to an end.
Travelers can now take laptops, tablets and all other
electronic devices with them on Saudia's flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to the
United States. Saudia serves Los Angeles, New York and Washington Dulles.
The DHS has previously lifted the laptop ban on carriers
operating out of Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, Kuwait, Turkey, the United Arab
Emirates and Qatar.
Late last month, the DHS said that airports meeting enhanced
security requirements would no longer be subject to the ban, which it put in
place to counter concerns about terrorist's turning laptops into bombs.
The United Kingdom's ban on carry-on electronics on flights
from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia to Great Britain
remains in effect.
