Ridesharing service Safr is expanding into Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Washington this fall.
The service already has launched in Boston and Orlando, as well as some markets in Pakistan.
Safr aims "to help women avoid potential danger." It conducts comprehensive criminal checks for drivers and enables a rider, via his or her profile, to select the gender of his or her driver and vice versa. That's meant to make both female passengers and female drivers feel safer.
A color-matching verification process ensures each rider gets in the correct vehicle.
