Accor is bolstering its presence in the lifestyle space with
the launch of the Tribe brand.
Positioned at the midscale level, Tribe is designed to offer
guests "a high-quality hotel experience at an affordable price,"
Accor said.
The concept is a spinoff of the original Tribe Hotel in
Perth, Australia, which Accor took over as part of its purchase of Mantra Group
in late 2017. The 126-room hotel is known for being one of the first hotels in
Australia to be built using modular, prefab design techniques.
According to Accor, Tribe will specialize in modern spaces
with stylish decor touches. Guestrooms will have under-bed storage, smart TVs, Kevin
Murphy bath products and a Nespresso machine.
The hotel will feature Moroso chairs, Jean-Paul Gaultier
cushions and lamps by British designer Tom Dixon. "From the lobby to the
guest rooms, and encompassing the common areas, each Tribe object has been
carefully crafted, selected and installed in order to bring a distinctive decor
to the hotel," Accor said.
Other amenities: bicycle rental service, fitness center, co-working
areas and the Tribe Foods venue, designed to function as a cafe by day and a bar
at night.
Accor plans to open 10 Tribe hotels throughout Europe and
Asia Pacific by 2022, including the 290-room Tribe Glasgow, which is on track
to open later this year.
Tribe joins Mama Shelter, SO/, 25Hours, 21c Museum and
Jo&Joe in Accor's existing lifestyle lineup. The company also plays in the
space through its 50% stake in lifestyle hospitality group SBE, whose brands
include Delano, SLS, Mondrian and Hyde.
Concurrent with the debut of Tribe, Accor and SBE launched
House of Originals, a luxury hotel collection.
