The Ames Boston will join Hilton Worldwide’s Curio collection next month.

The 114-room hotel is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation to its rooms, lobby and on-site restaurant during the next few months. The hotel is managed by Gemstone Hotels & Resorts.

Located near the Freedom Trail and about two blocks from Faneuil Hall, the property was built in 1893 and was Boston’s tallest building until 1915.

Formerly the headquarters of Ames Shovel and Tool Co., the 15-story building was redeveloped into a boutique hotel in 2009.
