The Maldives will be home to a Baccarat hotel expected to open in 2027.

The Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives will span five interconnected islands across 111 acres in the South Malé Atoll. SH Hotels & Resorts, the parent company of Baccarat, calls the property a "one-of-a-kind resort that will set a new standard of luxury in one of the world's most coveted travel destinations."

Baccarat Hotels & Resorts founder Barry Sternlicht said the Maldives resort will "fuse the timeless elegance and modern sophistication of the House of Baccarat, the legendary 260-year-old crystal brand, with the Maldives, a location that is synonymous with paradise."

"In crafting this extraordinary retreat, we aim not just to create a place to stay, but to curate an experience that celebrates the essence of luxury living with the breathtaking backdrop of the Maldives," he added.

Located a 30-minute boat ride from Velana International Airport, the resort will be partially wrapped around its own shallow-water lagoon and reef system. Plans call for 50 hotel villas and 53 private residences. Hotel villas will have one to three bedrooms and a private pool.

Residences will include six- and seven-bedroom mansions on a secluded peninsula. The eight- and nine-bedroom Private Islands are described as "intimate escapes surrounded by the beauty of the Maldives."

Other resort features: a Baccarat-themed crystal garden, an outdoor cinema, an art gallery and event space, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, traditional Maldivian fishing excursions, snorkeling and a spa with hydrotherapy circuits and yoga pavilions.

A turtle rehabilitation center will be among the resort's eco-friendly initiatives.

Baccarat has a hotel in New York and projects under development in Miami, Florence, Dubai, Riyadh and Rome.
