BILOXI, Miss. -- Beau Rivage Resort set aside a spacious no-smoking
"casino within a casino" at its 72,000-square-foot gaming property
here.
"This expansion allows us to reach the growing number of guests
who prefer a smoke-free environment," added Barry Shier, chairman
and chief executive officer.
"We did it by customer preference," a Beau Rivage spokeswoman
added. "There are a lot of people who are health-conscious these
days. Maybe it's a trend in casinos."
The casino within a casino includes table games and slot
machines of all denominations. The smoke-free area is clearly
identified by signs.
The new gaming area is near two of the resort's finest
restaurants, Coral and La Cucina, which feature seafood and Italian
fare, respectively.
Beau Rivage, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, features 1,780 rooms
and suites, 12 restaurants, 50,000 square feet of meeting and
convention space, a 31-slip marina and a European spa.
It is also the home of Cirque du Soleil's performance of
"Alegria" in a 1,500-seat showroom.
