Luxury hospitality group the Oetker Collection has added the historical Hotel La Palma on the Italian island of Capri to its portfolio, announcing plans to fully revamp and relaunch the property by April 2022. It will be Oetker's first property in Italy.

Built in 1882, the Hotel La Palma claims to be the first and oldest hotel on the island.

Ahead of its 2022 opening, the property will undergo extensive renovations, going from 80 rooms to 32 rooms and 18 suites. Each accommodation will feature its own private balcony or terrace.

The Hotel La Palma's culinary programming will be led by acclaimed chef Gennaro Esposito, best known for his two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Torre del Saracino. The property's food and beverage concepts will include Gennaro's, which will serve up authentic Italian fare, and rooftop restaurant and bar Bianca.

Other amenities will include a new pool deck, a pool bar and a spa with a sauna; steam bath and ice shower; relaxation space; and fitness center. The hotel's La Palma Beach Club at the Marina Piccola will be open to all, regardless of whether they are staying at the property.

The Hotel La Palma will bring the Oetker Collection's portfolio to a total of 12 hotels across Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
