Commune Hotels & Resorts, parent of Joie de Vivre Hospitality and Thompson Hotels, will debut what it calls a “value-conscious” brand called Tommie in New York in 2015.

Commune plans two Tommie hotels: a 250-room property on 31st Street and a 329-room hotel in West SoHo.

“We are creating hotels that will appeal to youthful, design-savvy, connected and discerning travelers seeking responsible and immersive experiences,” said Commune co-chair and Thompson Hotels founder Jason Pomeranc.

Commune is looking to take the brand to Europe and Asia after the New York openings.

Commune, which oversees about 50 hotels in the U.S. and U.K., was founded with the merger of Joie de Vivre and Thompson in 2011. Commune’s other co-chair is John Pritzker, son of Hyatt co-founder Jay Pritzker.

The company said in February that it will open a 388-room Roosevelt hotel in Miami Beach. Thompson manages the Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles.
