Debris from intercepted Iranian drones in Dubai damaged two of the city's luxury hotels over the weekend: the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab and Fairmont The Palm.
The Dubai Media Office confirmed via X that a drone was intercepted and the debris caused a minor fire on the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab's outer façade on Saturday. The fire was brought under control. The office added that no injuries were reported.
Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Opened in late 1999, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab is one of Dubai's most recognizable hotels, and has since become synonymous with the city's emergence as an ultra-luxury hot spot.
Meanwhile, Fairmont The Palm, located on Dubai's palm-shaped Palm Jumeirah archipelago, confirmed via its website that an incident took place in proximity to the property, involving debris in a nearby car park.
The hotel remains open and operational, with Raffles & Fairmont Hotels and Resorts CEO Omer Acar stating that the property's team is "closely monitoring developments and taking all necessary precautionary measures in coordination with the relevant authorities."
