The first Tru by Hilton hotel has broken ground in McDonough, Georgia, about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.
The four-story, 98-room hotel is due to open next summer. Brand standards include
zones for lounging, working, eating and playing; free WiFi; free "Build Your Own” breakfast; and smartphones as room keys.
Hilton says it has 189 agreements for Tru hotels “in process,” up from the 130 it had when Hilton unveiled the midscale brand in late January. Hilton said at the time that all guestrooms will have 55-inch TVs with DirecTV, as well as all-white platform beds, 8-foot-wide windows and "access to power everywhere.”
Tru is entering a midscale sector led by brands such as Best Western, La Quinta, Quality Inn and Ramada.
