Gaylord Hotels has opened its first property in California: the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista (about 8 miles south of San Diego).
The $1.3 billion development has 1,600 hotel guestrooms, including 89 suites, and 477,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The Gaylord Pacific is billing the 140,049-square-foot California Ballroom & Exhibit Hall as the "largest convention center and ballroom of any hotel in California."
The complex is home to 12 food and beverage outlets, including an Old Hickory Steakhouse (a signature Gaylord concept), Treo Kitchen + Bar (open all day), Growlers Sports Bar & Taproom, Oeste Bar (serving bites such as oysters Rockefeller, black garlic aioli waffle fries and crab cake sliders) and the Taiyo sushi restaurant.

Recreational offerings include a waterpark with multiple pools, waterslides, a lazy river and a wave pool, with the Relache Spa & Salon and a fitness center also on offer.
Correction: The Gaylord Pacific is not the first Gaylord hotel to open since the Gaylord National opened in 2008 and since Marriott bought Gaylord in 2012. The Gaylord Rockies opened in 2018.
