A new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will be built in Aruba outside the capital of Oranjestad on the site of the abandoned Bushiri Hotel, which has been closed since 2002.

Southwest Horeca Development, an Aruban company, was selected to build the 310-room beachfront Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Hard Rock will manage the resort once it is open.

Finalized contracts and financing details still are pending, according to Hard Rock.

The company has operated the Hard Rock Cafe on the Palm Beach hotel strip in Aruba since December 2008.

The resort will feature eco-friendly, sustainable-energy construction elements and will include multiple restaurants, a casino and entertainment venues.

Hard Rock operates a hotel-casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The brand plans to open resorts in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta in August and in the Riviera Maya in early 2013.

The Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis officially opens in October (it had its soft opening a month ago).
