The Homestead, a 483-room resort in western Virginia's Allegheny Mountains, embarked on a multifaceted $25 million renovation, set for completion this summer.
New features will include a Spa and Wellness Center with 29 treatment rooms and programs centered around the area’s geothermal springs. New eateries will include the Jefferson's Grill restaurant and the Presidents’ Lounge. Also new will be a two-acre Allegheny Springs family adventure area, offering water slides and a 400-foot lazy river.
The property, a National Historic Landmark that has hosted 22 U.S. presidents since it opened in 1766, also features three championship golf courses; the onsite Homestead Ski area, the South's first such facility; a 48-stable equestrian center; and shooting clubs. The property is open during the renovation, and suite rates start at about $425.
