InterContinental Hotels Group’s first hotel under its Even brand opened on Thursday in Norwalk, Conn., about 50 miles northeast of New York City.
The 129-room hotel, which is owned and managed by IHG, is introducing the wellness-oriented brand by including touches such as an “in-room training zone,” adjustable LED mood lighting and a food and beverage program emphasizing healthy products.
The new brand is expected to compete against upper-upscale select-service brands such as Courtyard by Marriott and Hyatt Place.
IHG announced the Even Hotels brand in 2012. The brand’s second property is due to open in Rockville, Md., by the end of the month, while other Even hotels are planned for midtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.
