Marriott International is jumping into the luxury safari segment, partnering with Baraka Lodges to open the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge next year.

To be located within Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve, the new camp will sit along the River Talek. The resort said it will offer guests "a prime location" from which to spot lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinoceros and elephants, among other wildlife.

The lodge will comprise 20 private tents and will have options for larger groups, such as a presidential canvas-topped pavilion and two interconnecting canopied suites. Accommodations will be decorated with neutral and earth-tone hues as well as natural materials.

The property will have a restaurant, a lounge and bar, and a spa, as well as a large outdoor terrace area with fire pits, where traditional Masai dance performances will happen in the evenings.

According to Marriott, the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge plans to employ up to 50 locals from the Masai community.
