Thompson Hotels and Joie de Vivre Hospitality have merged to form a management company for the two companies' 45 properties. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The companies plan to pursue more management contracts and create a resort brand.
The combined company will temporarily be renamed JT Hospitality until a permanent name is decided upon early next year. Thompson and Joie de Vivre each own 50% of JT Hospitality.
The company will unveil a global branding strategy during the first quarter 2012.
Thompson Hotels CEO Stephen Brandman will be CEO of the new, New York-based company, while Joie de Vivre majority owner John Pritzker will be co-chairman.
"Fifteen months ago we said we would leverage our hospitality platform to nearly double Joie de Vivre's annual revenues and the number of hotels in the collection within five years," said Pritzker in a statement Monday. "By merging with Thompson Hotels, we are on track to reach that goal well ahead of schedule.”
New York-based Thompson's properties include New York’s 60 Thompson and Los Angeles’s Hollywood Roosevelt. San Francisco-based Joie de Vivre runs San Francisco’s Galleria Park and Los Angeles’ Custom Hotel among its 33 properties.
