According to Kempinski, the company's supervisory board decided "to part ways" with Smura, who served as Kempinski's chief executive since July 2019.

The company gave no further details on his departure.

In a statement, Abdulla H. Saif, chairman of Kempinski's supervisory board, said the group "is confident that, thanks to his in-depth asset management know-how, sense of urgency and his sensibility to quality and craftsmanship, Bernold Schroeder will successfully drive the company forward."

Schroeder has been with Kempinski since 2017. He has previously served as CEO of Pan Pacific Hotels Group and Jin Jiang Group's Jin Jiang International Hotel Management subsidiary.
