Montage Hotels & Resorts next year will take over the Inn at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, S.C. The resort will undergo a $100 million expansion and renovation.
The waterfront property, built as an estate a century ago, will be renamed Inn at Palmetto Bluff, a Montage Resort in February. The resort is currently managed by Auberge Hotels & Resorts.
Owner Crescent Communities, along with development partner Athens Group, will invest about $100 million adding 150 luxury rooms to the property, which has 50 cottages on site. A spa and fitness center will also be built.
Montage is an operator of luxury resorts in Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills, Calif., as well as Deer Valley, Utah. It will operate its first Hawaii property in Maui early next year.
In a statement, Auberge Resorts managing partner Mark Harmon said, "We are proud that, under our leadership, the Inn at Palmetto Bluff has become one of the most highly regarded hotels in the world. ... We wish the new management group the very best as they embark on the expansion of the hotel to 200 rooms and take the Inn in a new direction.”
