The One&Only Mandarina, located on 640 acres of beach and rainforest in Riviera Nayarit, has set an opening date: Nov. 1.
The resort has been in the works for some time and was expected to open this year. It is one of two One&Only properties in Mexico; the One&Only Palmilla is in San Jose del Cabo.
At the new Mandarina, guests can choose to sleep in luxury treehouse style rooms with outdoor living spaces, private pools, terraces and private butler service. The starting room category, the Ridge Treehouse rooms, measure 854 square feet and have private infinity pools. There are also Ocean Treehouses with the same offerings but include ocean views.
The One&Only Mandarina also offers expansive clifftop villas. One of those, the Villa Jaguar, is more than 2,900 square feet and has a private pool, terraces, a hot tub and barbecue area. The villa to beat, however, is the Villa Pacifico, which is 3,682 square feet and has two private pools, walk-in closets, hot tub, a fully stocked wine fridge, full-screen movie theater, outdoor shower and outdoor dining area.
The beachfront will have a beach club, as well, with a beachside restaurant, infinity pools, kids pools, daybeds and cabanas. Other restaurants will include Alma, which will feature pan-American and Mediterranean cuisine, and Carao, which will specialize in Mexican cuisine.
Activities include an Alejandro Battro-designed polo field, ziplining and hiking. The estuary on property is a good spot for guests to kayak or paddleboard. The resort is family friendly, as well, and will have One&Only's signature Kids Only Club, which offers stargazing, movies, games, nature hunts and more.
