Orient Express Hotels buys two Australia properties

HAMILTON, Bermuda -- Orient Express Hotels bought the Observatory Hotel in Sydney and the Lilianfels Hotel in the Blue Mountains of Australia for a total of $40 million.

Orient Express is a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Sea Containers Ltd.

The Nara Corp. of Yokohama, Japan, was the seller of the two properties. The Observatory Hotel has 100 rooms, and the Lilianfels Hotel has 86 rooms.

Orient-Express Hotels owns or manages 23 hotels, five luxury tourist trains, one cruise ship and two restaurants.
