Hyatt Hotels Corp. is expanding its Hyatt Vivid brand, announcing plans for a 500-room all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The resort is a conversion of the Jewel Palm Beach Cana and is slated to reopen as a Hyatt Vivid by this year's third quarter.

Hyatt Vivid is a new adults-only brand that debuted in Cancun last year. It plays in the upper-upscale space and sits at a price point just below the Secrets brand. According to Hyatt, Vivid is "designed to cater to the next generation of all-inclusive travelers."

Following the reflagging, the Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana will be home to five specialty restaurants, several casual dining concepts and a speakeasy jazz club. Wellness amenities will include a spa, indoor and outdoor gyms, pickleball and tennis courts, as well as a juice and healthy-snack bar.

The resort will have four pools. For events and conferences, the property will offer a convention center with a capacity for 1,000 guests.

A third Hyatt Vivid resort -- the Hyatt Vivid Akumal Resort & Spa on Mexico's Riviera Maya -- is in the pipeline, slated to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
