CHRISTIANSTED, St. Croix -- Kahn Travel Communications, a public
relations agency specializing in travel and hospitality industry
communications and promotions, dropped Chenay Bay Beach Resort here
from its client list and severed all ties with the resort.
Richard Kahn, agency president, said "following recent changes
that have taken place at the resort, we have serious concerns about
a reported lack of service which has created concern for guests and
media."
The 50-room beachfront property, which offers cottage-style
accommodations geared to families, is in the midst of a sale by
owner and general manager Peter Locke to Nevada-based Sun Vacation
Properties.
The sale, to have been completed by the end of September, fell
through, according to Kahn, who also reported that the resort had
stopped paying bills. There were also unsubstantiated rumors in St.
Croix, indicating that employees were dissatisfied and were
defecting to other properties and jobs.
Kahn's agency had handled the Chenay Bay account for four years;
Kahn said his agency could resume representation of the property
should a sale go through in the coming months.
