Ritz-Carlton said Friday that it reached an agreement with the Oman Ministry of Tourism to take over management of Muscat's Al Bustan Palace.

The luxury-hotel operator will retain all employees at the 250-room hotel and will rebrand the Al Bustan Palace under the Ritz-Carlton badge.

"The Omani capital has long been a key aspiration for the Ritz-Carlton, and we have waited a long time to find the perfect opportunity to add to our collection," said Ritz-Carlton President Herve Humler in a statement.

The hotel, which was originally built to host the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in 1985, boasts the country's longest beach as well as 200 acres of landscaped gardens. The property recently underwent a multimillion-dollar interior and exterior renovation, Ritz-Carlton said.

With Al Bustan Palace, Ritz-Carlton will operate seven resorts in the Middle East, including two in Dubai, two in Qatar and one each in Egypt and Bahrain.

The company is in the process of opening hotels in Cairo, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
