Riu Hotels & Resorts will open its 28th
hotel in the Americas and its ninth in the Dominican Republic when
it debuts the 612-suite, all-inclusive Riu Palace Punta Cana in
Bavaro Beach April 28.
The new resort is
the second Riu Palace in Punta Cana and is part of the six-resort
Riu complex in that area.
Rius Caribbean
holdings also include a resort in the Bahamas and one in Aruba as
well as three resorts in Jamaica offering a total of 1,700 rooms.
The Riu Ocho Rios Hotel, which opened last fall, is the largest in
Jamaica with 856 rooms.
In Mexico, the
resort firm has properties in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Nuevo
Vallarta. A second ClubHotel Riu Vallarta will open in November in
Nuevo Vallarta.
