LAS VEGAS --
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has entered into an agreement with
Boyd Gaming Corp. to manage a new, 400-room hotel here.
We believe that Las
Vegas offers great potential for us, said Stephen Darling,
Shangri-Las regional vice president in an interview with
TravelWeekly.com. It is a market that is evolving quite rapidly and
radically [and] we are beginning to see brand name hotels coming to
Las Vegas.
Slated to open in
2010, the Shangri-La Hotel, Las Vegas will be will be part of
Echelon Place, a 63-acre project Boyd Gaming is developing on the
Las Vegas Strip.
Echelon Place will
anchored by a casino and will including retail stores, two
entertainment theaters, meetings and convention facilities, plus
four hotels including the Shangri-La Hotel, Las Vegas.
The Shangri-La
Hotel, Las Vegas is the third U.S. property announced by the
Asia-based hotel chain in the recent months. Last October, the
chain signed agreements to manage two new hotels, the 147-room
Shangri-La Hotel, Miami (opening 2008) and the 200-room Shangri-La
Hotel, Chicago (opening 2009).
