Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts signed an
agreement to manage a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates.
Under the agreement
signed with Abu Dhabi-based Al Jaber Establishment and Tourism
Development and Investment Co., Shangri-La will manage the 214-room
Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, which is slated to
open February 2007.
Situated on a 21-acre
site, the hotel will also feature serviced apartments and deluxe
villas, in addition to dining, entertainment, retail and
recreational venues.
Shangri-La said the
property would be the first development of its kind in Abu
Dhabi.
"The property's prime
location, luxury accommodations, variety of recreational and
meeting facilities, combined with Shangri-La's renowned
hospitality, will produce extremely memorable stays for all our
guests," said Giovanni Angelini, Shangri-La's CEO and managing
director in a statement.
The Shangri-La Hotel,
Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi is the second property the hotel company
manages for Al Jaber. It also manages Al Jaber's Shangri-La Hotel,
Dubai.
"We selected
Shangri-La to manage [the Abu Dhabi property] due to its
long-standing reputation in Asia Pacific, and the sterling
reputation it has quickly established among its existing Middle
East properties," said Obeid Al Jaber, chairman of Al Jaber
Group.
The Shangri-La Hotel,
Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi is located not far from the both the
airport and Abu Dhabi's new convention center.
