Starwood renames ownership firm

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts renamed its vacation ownership venture, Vistana, as Starwood Vacation Ownership.

The hotelier, which bought Vistana in October, said it plans to brand existing and future resorts with the Sheraton and Westin names.

Four resorts in Florida and one in Colorado will get the Sheraton brand. The Florida properties include Sheraton's PGA Vacation Resort in Port St. Lucie; Sheraton's Vistana Resort and Sheraton's Vistana Villages, both in Orlando, and Sheraton's Vistana Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine. Starwood also renamed Sheraton's Mountain Vista in Avon, Colo.

The Westin brand will appear at the Westin St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Starwood also will introduce Westin-branded vacation ownership areas in Hawaii and Arizona.
