Wyndham Vacation Ownership has opened its
first timeshare property in Waikiki. Previously known as the Ohana
Reef Towers hotel, the 195-unit property was transformed into the
Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk following an extensive, two-year,
$54-million renovation and opened Jan. 2.
The property has
95 one-bedroom, 83 two-bedroom and 17 two-, three- and four-bedroom
penthouse-style Presidential suites, all situated within two
15-story towers. Each unit includes a fully equipped kitchen,
whirlpool bath, a washer/dryer and a flat-panel television with DVD
player.
The resort also
features an expansive sun deck, an outdoor swimming pool, an
exercise facility, a recreation room and a computer
library.
Although Wyndham
already has 13 timeshare properties in Hawaii, Franz Hanning,
Wyndham Vacation Ownership president and CEO, said growing consumer
demand spurred its first entry into the Waikiki market.
Additionally, the
property serves as a key component of Waikiki Beach Walk, a retail
and entertainment complex that truly encapsulates the ultimate
Hawaiian vacation experience." said David Carey, president and CEO,
Outrigger Enterprises Group, which owns the Wyndham
property.
Besides the
Wyndham property, Waikiki Beach Walk also includes the Outrigger
Reef on the Beach; the Embassy Suites -- Waikiki Beach Walk, which
opened in late December; the Ohana Islander Waikiki; and the Trump
International Hotel & Tower Waikiki Beach Walk, with
construction to begin this year for completion in 2009.
