Former Expedia execs create residential real estate start-up

SEATTLE -- Rich Barton, the former president and CEO of Expedia has resurfaced and teamed with another ex-Expedia official to create an Internet start-up here.

If this sounds familiar -- with echoes of the former Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity officials who jointly founded travel search company start-up Kayak -- it isnt.

Barton and former Expedia Senior Vice President Lloyd Frink are developing Zillow, a consumer-Internet company focusing on residential real estate. The details are sketchy, but a few more tidbits are available at www.zillow.com.

Barton, who left Expedia in March 2003, is chairman and CEO of Zillow.

In February, he took on another role as well becoming a partner in venture technology company Benchmark Capital, based in Menlo Park, Calif. Barton also fulfills board member roles on Netflix and AtomShockwave.
