G Adventures has launched its first trips to Dominica, shaking up what travelers typically find in the Caribbean destination.
Known for its natural hot springs and rainforests, the island is most popular among the cruise crowd, but the G programs show off the outdoor paradise in a new light. G touts its two itineraries as the first of its kind, saying that it is the first global adventure operator to launch such trips.
The tours will operate under the Geluxe collection, G's premium active travel style that features upgraded experiences and lodging. Each trip will also include an "OMG Day," which allows guests to personalize their excursions.
"G Adventures has always sought to help travelers see destinations in a new way," says G vice president of product Yves Marceau. "We're incredibly excited to expand our Caribbean offering with Dominica and to shine a light on its incredible natural and cultural richness. By moving beyond the traditional cruise narrative, we're helping travelers experience the island more deeply while ensuring tourism revenue reaches local and Indigenous communities."
An eight-day Roseau-based itinerary launches in November and is focused on exploring the country's diverse terrain. Guests will explore the famous Trafalgar Falls and the less-touristed Middleham Falls. Other highlights include paddling and snorkeling at Champagne Beach and exploring the Indian River, which was featured in "Pirates of the Caribbean."
The trip also includes an experience with the Kalinago people, where travelers will visit the Kalinago Barana Aute model village and try their hand at cassava bread-making.
Beginning in January 2027, a seven-day itinerary that also travels roundtrip from Roseau is dedicated to the island's marine life. On this trip, travelers will have a chance to swim with sperm whales in their natural habitat -- one of the only places in the world where it's possible.
