The Travel Corporation plans to add “wellbeing directors” to
all group trips operating under its Trafalgar, Luxury Gold and Insight
Vacations brands.
The wellbeing directors will make sure guests, staff and
suppliers are following health and safety protocols aimed at preventing the
spread of Covid-19.
Like the company’s travel directors, the new specially
trained wellbeing coordinators will travel with the groups full-time to ensure
guest safety while allowing travel directors and concierges to remain focused
on the travel experience, said Luxury Gold CEO Ulla Hefel Bohler.
Travel Corporation chairman Stanley Tollman came up with the
idea, she said.
The new wellbeing directors, she said, will be available
around the clock to answer guest questions and to monitor safety aboard the
coach and at all hotels, restaurants and other places the groups visit.
For instance, she said, before travelers go into a
restaurant, the wellbeing director will make sure tables are spaced to ensure
social distancing, that staff are wearing masks and providing hand sanitizer,
that menus are sanitized and that restrooms are clean.
They will also monitor the practices of partner hotels and
make sure all luggage is sanitized upon delivery from the coach to guests’
hotel rooms.
“It’s all of those little but very important details,” Hefel
Bohler said.
Additionally, she said, the wellbeing directors will stay up
to date on guidelines from global health authorities as well as local rules
regarding Covid-19. They will also work with drivers to make sure coaches are
properly sanitized each evening and will be specially trained to monitor and
respond to any guests that are feeling ill.
The addition of the wellbeing directors is an update to the
company’s previously announced “Peace of Mind” protocols developed with
guidance from governmental agencies and industry groups.
