WASINGTON -- ARTA and the United States Travel Agent Registry
established a Web site at www.airlinesettlement.com, outlining their reasons why
travel agents should reject the Lufthansa offer to settle claims in
the Sarah Hall class-action suit against the major airlines.
The groups' nine objections range from the contention that the
Lufthansa settlement would be a bad precedent to concerns that
Lufthansa's Web-fare commissions won't cover agents' costs.
The site has a form to write a letter to the court opposing the
proposed settlement; letter-writers are urged to send their
objections by Aug. 10.
