Galileo, ITA Software reach agreement

PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Galileo and ITA Software reached an agreement that brings the latter's fare and flight search technology -- the same engine used by Orbitz -- to Galileo's online customers, including Trip.com and Cheap Tickets.

The ITA Software technology, which is considered very robust because of the large number of flight combinations it produces, will also soon be integrated with Galileo's corporate self-booking tool, Highwire.

An official from Cendant, which owns Galileo and operates Cheap Tickets and Trip.com through Trip Network, said ITA's solutions may be integrated "into Galileo's more complex offline platform to further broaden fare shopping capabilities for all Galileo-connected agencies."

Amadeus has an equity stake in Cambridge, Mass.-based ITA Software.
