SOUTHLAKE, Texas -- Sabre scrapped its Travelocity Agent Program, only nine months after launching the initiative.

The program allowed Sabre-wired agencies to use a cobranded Travelocity site to book travel and earn commissions.

Sabre said agencies using the Travelocity site were notified that the link will be deactivated by mid-February.

A company spokeswoman said Sabre offers sufficient alternatives -- including Agent 59 (the agency version of Travelocity's Site59) and Sabre's leisure group, the Jurni Network -- that allow agents to access content outside of the GDS.

Unlike when Sabre launched TAP, subscribers now can access to Web fares in the GDS, the spokeswoman added.
