AUSTIN, Texas -- A company specializing in travel for airline
employees broadened its offerings with a Web site for travel
agents, featuring discounted packages to agents and their traveling
companions.
Grand Adventures Tour & Travel Publishing Corp., traded on
the Nasdaq with the symbol GATT, launched AgentPerx.com, an
Internet division with discounted travel prices specifically for
agents.
"In the face of recent setbacks for travel agents -- seriously
slashed commissions and an overall reduction in benefits such as
travel discounts -- we believe that AgentPerx.com targets a niche
market with significant potential for our company," said Matthew
O'Hayer, chairman and chief executive officer of Grand Adventures
Tour & Travel Publishing.
"AgentPerx.com offers hotel and resort packages discounted as
much as 80% -- making these the lowest prices available to travel
agents."
O'Hayer said, "We already have the infrastructure to deliver
discount travel services via the Internet, and AgentPerx.com will
allow us to further leverage our contractual relationships with
hotels, resorts and cruise lines around the world."
He said the packages are "not the traditional fam trips which
require travel agents to work during brief stays at resorts or
hotels. Instead, we are providing opportunities for real vacations
at wonderful discounts for travel agents. AgentPerx.com is the
place for travel agents to discover the great discounts available
to them and to book their next exciting vacation on line."
AgentPerx.com obtained special rates for travel agents through
agreements with hotels and resorts worldwide.
Visitors to the site browse rates and information for more than
100 hotels and resorts, then book the rates and make
reservations.
Grand Adventure Tour & Travel specializes in leisure travel
information and travel-related services to present and former
airline employees through two divisions, Interline Adventures, a
magazine, and Interline TravelReps, an airline employee travel
company that has contractual relationships with more than 40 cruise
lines and more than 1,400 hotels and resorts.
