What's New, What's Hot: April 2021

Orimei Packable Coat: A "packable" coat that looks wrinkled and somewhat wrecked upon unpacking would hold little value for a fashion-conscious traveler, but fortunately that is not the case with this wrinkle-resistant, minimalist attire designed for function and fashion. Lightweight (2 pounds, 2 ounces) and multi-functional (it can serve as a coat, blanket, pillow and purse), the Orimei Coat, which folds neatly into its own purse, features deep pockets with flaps, optional folded sleeves, side-seam slits, a finger loop, a magnetic button and a zippered pouch. It can be machine washed and dried, and comes in taupe, black, red, mauve, green and gray. One size fits most. $134; https://theorimei.com

Pang Wangle Essential Wrap: Pang Wangle, a company located in New Orleans, specializes in lightweight attire that boasts a built-in, odorless and EPA-approved bug repellent bound to natural and renewable fabric fibers. The company claims its wrap, for example, repels mosquitos, ticks, fleas, chiggers, ants and midges while being breathable, hypoallergenic and biodegradable. Six feet long and 29 inches wide, the wrap can be worn across the shoulders, as a sarong or as a head covering. It is available in five colors and is said to maintain its bug-repellent properties for more than 70 washings. $58; https://pangwangle.com

Zmodo Mini Cam: At-home security will not come any cheaper than this inexpensive camera when the day comes that you can comfortably leave your home to travel again. Priced at under $15, the Zmodo Mini has a lot going for it despite its mini price, such as a 1080p, HD-quality image capability; a 130-degree viewing angle; AI-powered object detection alerts (with optional cloud plan); night vision; two-way audio; and compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant. The cam is small enough to be unobtrusively placed virtually anywhere in a home. $14; https://www.zmodo.com

Titan Deep Freeze 30-can Zipperless Cooler: Great for camping trips, soft-adventure outings and the like, this cooler has a "flip-open" lid that eliminates the need for a zipper, an insulated front pocket, radiant heat barrier insulation, a removable liner and a convenient shelf to separate perishables from cans and bottles. In addition, the Titan Deep Freeze, which as its name suggests, is sized to accommodate 30 cans of whatever is your pleasure and comes with an adjustable shoulder strap (and shoulder pad). The exterior, which is water and stain resistant, is durable and easy to clean. Exterior dimensions are 16.5 by 11 by 12.75 inches and the weight is 3.37 pounds. According to the manufacturer, the Titan, which comes in moss and navy, will keep ice up to three days. $34.99; https://arcticzone.com/collections/coolers

Samsonite Freeform 110: Fashioned to commemorate the company's 110-year history, this bag from Samsonite and a (separately sold) modernized version of a train case constitute a combo that harkens back to the golden days of travel in the 1960s. The luggage, which sports the original Fashionaire print used in the interior lining, is fully functional for the 21st Century voyager, however. Weighing only 6.08 pounds and maxing out at 21.25 by 15.15 by 11 inches, the expandable Freeform 110 offers a cross ribbon and divider, numerous pockets, double wheels, recessed TSA combination lock and built-in ID tag. The train case, incidentally, weighs 2.82 pounds and measures 14.2 by 10.6 by 7.9 inches. Both pieces are available in mint green, white and cherry. $149.99 (train case, $79.99); https://shop.samsonite.com
