Conde Nast Traveler honors Hawaii islands, resorts

Maui and Kauai were named the top two Pacific Islands in the Conde Nast Traveler 2010 Readers' Choice Awards for the second straight year. The Big Island and Oahu finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

The November issue of the publication contains the results of the annual survey, which also asked readers to rank the planet's best resorts, hotels, cities, airlines and cruise lines. More than 26,000 readers participated in 2010.

Maui was voted the Best Island in the World for the 16th time and was the only island-destination to earn a score of 90 or higher based on the survey's ranking system of quantifying a location's lodgings, friendliness, atmosphere, beaches, scenery and restaurants.

Hawaii's top three resorts were the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, the Hotel Hana-Maui and the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island.
