Antigua’s Boggy Peak, the island’s highest point, will be renamed Mount Obama Monument and will serve as the focal point of a new national park, according to Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer.

The park will include hiking trails, a museum and an interpretation center.

"It is intended to create a place of pride and dignity for the people of Antigua & Barbuda and give visitors an understanding of the similarities in our histories and cultures," Spencer said.

The renaming ceremony on Aug. 4 coincides with President Obama’s 48th birthday and the country’s annual Carnival celebrations.
