After an eight-year stint as director of tourism for the British Virgin Islands and head of the BVI Film Commission, Sharon Flax-Brutus will step down on Nov. 15.
Flax-Brutus helped rebuild the destination's tourism product following the 2017 hurricanes. During her tenure, the BVI broke record arrival numbers in 2016, with more than one million visitors.
She also launched a destination training program and negotiated the payment of accommodations taxes with Airbnb.
Future plans have not been announced, although she plans to focus on projects that will benefit the BVI tourism industry.
