A false alarm of cholera has delayed the arrival of the Norwegian Dawn in Port Louis, Mauritius. The ship was supposed to disembark on Feb. 25 but won't until Feb. 27.

Six guests on the 12-day sailing from South Africa to Mauritius were being monitored on the ship due to what the cruise line described as mild symptoms of a stomach-related illness. The government of Mauritius required testing before allowing disembarkation.

No trace of cholera was found during testing, according to the line. The Dawn has since been cleared for entry into Port Louis on Feb. 27.

NCL said it has rearranged travel at no additional cost for all guests who booked air with NCL. More than 400 flight itineraries were rescheduled within 24 hours, the line said. Free Wi-Fi and phone service were also offered so guests who purchased flights on their own could rearrange their travel plans.

The line will reimburse guests for "reasonably incurred expenses" as a result of flight changes. Guests with a return flight scheduled for Feb. 28 will receive complimentary hotel accommodations. Guests will also get a future cruise credit.

The situation has also delayed the departure of a 12-day sailing from Mauritius to Cape Town, South Africa. The sailing was pushed back to Feb. 27, with a complimentary two-day hotel stay in Mauritius for all embarking guests, totaling almost 1,200 hotel rooms for 2,000 passengers.

Guests also received a daily per diem to cover the cost of meals and other expenses, and NCL has arranged for complimentary transfers to the port. Due to the shortened cruise, guests will also receive a prorated refund, an onboard spending credit and a future cruise credit.
