The MSC Meraviglia is moving out of New York City and will operate from Miami next winter.
The move will result in a season of canceled sailings from New York that were already open for booking.
The ship, which has homeported year-round from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal since spring 2023, will depart next April for Europe and then move to Miami for the winter season.
The decision to move the Meraviglia was made "to optimize our global deployment and meet travel demands," a company spokesperson said.
A letter to booked guests offered a refund, a future cruise credit, or an alternative sailing out of Miami or from another U.S. homeport.
The repositioning means that four MSC Cruises ships will homeport in Miami during the winter 2026-27 season, an increase from this winter's three.
First Call: The MSC World America
There will be seven MSC ships total sailing the Caribbean; in addition to Miami, homeports include Galveston, with the MSC Seascape, and Port Canaveral, with the MSC Seashore and the MSC Grandiosa.
MSC will also offer more visits than ever to Amber Cove in the
Dominican Republic and Grand Turk, which the cruise line's ships have
only called at occasionally, the spokesperson said.
The MSC Meraviglia's Miami sailings will include six-night and eight-night itineraries to the Caribbean and Bahamas. The eight-night itinerary includes calls in Amber Cove, plus St. Maarten; St. Kitts; St. Thomas and St. John's in the U.S. Virgin Islands; Antigua and Barbuda; San Juan; Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic; and Nassau.
Ports on the six-night itinerary include Grand Turk, Puerto Plata, Nassau and MSC's private destination, Ocean Cay.
This report was updated on the afternoon of Aug. 6 with information about compensation for customers who had booked MSC Meraviglia cruises that were canceled.
