Ponant takes delivery of fourth Explorer-class ship: Travel Weekly

Ponant has taken delivery of Le Dumont-d'Urville, the fourth in a series of 184-passenger expedition ships named for French explorers.

The line has planned to take delivery of six Explorer-class ships between June 2018 and July 2020, with Le Bellot and Le Jacques-Cartier yet to come. Ponant is also building an ice-hardened ship for polar regions, Le Commandant-Charcot, similarly named for an explorer.

Le Dumont is scheduled to launch on Aug. 7, 2019, with an eight-day sailing called the "Historic Cities of the Baltic Sea."

Like other ships in the Explorer class, Le Dumont-d'Urville features the "Blue Eye," an underwater multisensory lounge.
