BASEL, Switzerland -- Viking River Cruises, based here, completed a
purchase of Cologne, Germany-based KD River Cruises of Europe on
March 9. Terms of the deal were not announced.
The purchase makes Viking River Cruises the largest river-cruise
operator in Europe, with 26 river vessels and two ocean-going
ships.
Viking also opened its first U.S. office, in Woodland Hills,
Calif., with responsibility for marketing Viking's cruises to North
Americans.
