Passengers flying to or transferring through Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport can now see the city via the Floating Dutchman, a hybrid bus/boat that launched July 8.

The 48-passenger, battery-powered vehicle departs Schiphol Plaza and travels on land to the city center, where it enters the water near the Nemo Science Centre. It then cruises the canals before making its way back to the airport. The tour lasts roughly two hours.

“We expect it to appeal to large numbers of people who transfer at Schiphol and who want to go on a quick sightseeing trip round Amsterdam city centre,” said Freek Vermeulen, director of Lovers Transportainment, adding that the service also provides easy access to the city for tourists staying Amsterdam.
