The Grand Universe Lucca, an Autograph Collection hotel, will open in Lucca, Italy, in June.
Located in the center of historical old town, the restored 16th-century palazzo will feature 55 guestrooms and suites.
Amenities will include a fine dining restaurant, a lounge area with a piano, a rooftop bar overlooking the city and a wine-tasting cellar set among the remnants of an ancient glassblower's fountain.
The interior decor will blend Old World elements -- including colorful silks in homage to the city's silk-production heritage -- with contemporary features.
The hotel, whose foundation dates back to the Roman period, morphed into a palazzo of the Paoli family during the Renaissance before becoming the Hotel Universo e Toscain 1857. The property closed in 2015 and has since undergone an extensive restoration.
The property will be situated in front of the Teatro del Giglio and adjacent to Piazza Napoleone, a gathering place for artists and musicians that hosts the Lucca Summer Festival every July.
