The Pestana Churchill Bay, the first Pousada de Portugal on Madeira, is set to open June 7.
Overlooking Camara de Lobos Bay, one of the area's most popular attractions, the property is named for former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who vacationed on the island with his family in 1950.
The 57-room property is located 10 minutes by car from Funchal, Madeira's capital, and a short walk from the cliffs at Cabo Girao, known for a suspended glass platform overlooking the Atlantic.
The historical property, previously a council chamber and a fish wholesale market, is located on the waterfront and offers a restaurant, bar, panoramic rooftop pool, gym, sauna and a spa treatment room.
The entrance lobby features a bronze sculpture of Churchill by Portuguese artist Martim Velosa.
