The Vila Foz Hotel & Spa is set to open in Porto, Portugal, this month.
The 68-room hotel will be located in the Foz do Douro district, which is known for its restaurants and boutiques as well as for the 17th-century Castelo do Queijo fortress, the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the City Park, the country's largest urban park.
Also nearby are 10 miles of trails, lakes and direct access to the beach.
The property is the work of Madeiran designer Nini Andrade Silva and the architecture firm Miguel Cardoso Arquitecto, who restored a 19th-century manor and its historical architectural features and created an extension.
The property features a fine dining restaurant overseen by executive chef Arnaldo Azevedo and Flor de Lis for more casual fare. Other amenities include the Vila Foz Spa, with treatment rooms, a Turkish bath and sauna, an indoor pool and an outdoor relaxation area surrounded by landscaped gardens.
