Villa Arnica opened this summer in Lana in the autonomous Italian province of South Tyrol. The 10-room, adults-only property, originally a 1920s villa, retains much of its original style.

Amenities at the property in the Val d'Adige/Etschtal Valley include a swimming pool and pool house surrounded by landscaped grounds, and the on-site restaurant features garden-to-table dining and an extensive wine list.

Guests can take advantage of cycling and hiking routes, including the 19th- century Tappeinerweg trail, a landscaped botanical route with more than 400 labeled tree and shrub specimens.

Austria's Innsbruck Airport is about two hours away by car.
