Three people were killed and two others injured after a tourist helicopter crashed off the coast of Kauai in Hawaii.
According to Kauai County, an Airborne Aviation helicopter carrying one pilot and four passengers crashed at Kalalau Beach on Thursday. The doors-off helicopter company advertises itself as "a thrill seekers adventure tour."
Hawaii News Now reported that Airborne Aviation expressed condolences and said the company will cooperate with federal investigators.
"It hits all of us to our core when something like this happens, all of us in the industry,” said Doug Froning, Airborne Aviation's director of operations.
"Right now, we have suspended all operations for an indefinite period of time until we're certain we can continue safely."
The area where the crash occurred is only reachable by hiking or boat, the Associated Press reported.
A sightseeing helicopter crashed in Kauai in 2024 and has been the site of other helicopter crashes in recent years.
This report was updated on March 29 with a statement from Airborne Aviation.
